What is the Beavers?

The Beaver Scouts are for young people aged between six and eight years. The Beaver Scout Motto is ‘Fun & Friends’ and as a Beaver your child will have plenty of both as they will get to meet new people and learn new skills.

What Activities Do We Do?

The Beavers will enjoy a range of activities from games in the hall, arts and crafts, campfire sing songs and stories, trips to the fire or police station, museums, parks and the sea side. Sporting activities also take place including the annual district uni-hoc competitions, fun days with other colonies from the district and a one-night beaver sleepover to introduce them to the idea of camping ahead of Cubs.

The Beavers will also be involved in annual events with the District’s groups including the Christingle service at Christmas and the St George’s Day Parade every April. If you think this is something your child would like to get involved with simply call in to see us any Tuesday night and the leaders can tell you and your child more about the Beaver experience. Your child will be become a fully-fledged member of the Scout Association when he makes his Beaver promise.

When Is It?

The Beaver Scouts meet once a week on Tuesday evenings between 6.30pm – 7.45pm during term time from September to June. Throughout your child’s time in Beavers they will enjoy a packed programme of activity which will include badge work from animal friend, healthy eating, experiments and will complete various challenge badges. Following the completion of their work, badges will be presented to the Beavers in order to be displayed on their uniform.
